Carers

We recognise that caring for someone with MD can be exhausting and lonely. Our group also aims to support carers.

Unless otherwise stated, all of our meetings are equally open to carers and people with the condition. At the Hilltops meetings, we often split into two groups - one of carers and the other of people with the condition. This gives carers the opportunity to have a discussion between themselves. Many find that helpful.

We have held a very successful day conference for carers in association with the Clinical Psychology Department of The Trust for the last five years in October. Watch out for details of next year's.

We are delighted that Turning Point is now providing a support service in South Cambridgeshire for mental health carers. Call them on 0845 6017881 for support, advice, information, advocacy and representation.

There is also advice the South Cambs Mental Health website.

Lifecraft and Directions Plus also help carers.

Rethink (formerly National Schizophrenia Fellowship) is for carers of all serious and enduring mental health problems. To contact the Cambridge Branch, ring David Jordan on 01354-655786 during office hours or 01354-652042 after hours.
